CONNECTIVITÉ
CONNECTIVITÉ
Connectivité constitutes the initial phase of a two-part project aimed at designing and establishing a website and social media presence for the University of Reading Art Department's Winter Cabaret. The Winter Cabaret, held in December 2020, serves as an annual exhibition that provides students from all academic years with a platform to showcase their artwork. The subsequent part of this project centres on Pièce De Distance, which can be further explored and read about here.

BRIEF
Connectivé is a follow-up project to the University of Reading’s Fine Art Degree Show, designed specifically as a digital extension of the physical exhibition. The brief was to create an online platform that allows graduating students to showcase their work in a more accessible, interactive format, reaching wider audiences beyond the gallery space. The project needed to reflect the creative diversity of the students while offering a user-friendly experience that makes browsing artwork intuitive and engaging. Key considerations included designing a clean, adaptable layout, incorporating artist profiles, high-quality visuals, and space for contextual information such as statements, video, and process documentation. Connectivité sought to blend a French Renaissance aesthetic with nostalgic internet logos, capturing the essence of staying connected during the COVID-19 lockdown. In a time when maintaining connections became increasingly crucial, Connectivité aimed to convey the importance of remaining linked with one another through its visual identity.
BRANDING

Inspired by the French Renaissance and old-style internet aesthetics, the concept of a buffering logo integrated with typography was conceived to form a typographic logo. Building upon this concept, the design team proceeded to explore various colour palettes to determine which best complemented the desired visual style. Through experimentation and careful consideration, the team sought to achieve a cohesive and visually appealing design that aligned with the intended look and feel of the project.
